In our Kickboxing program you will learn proper technique that works in and out of the ring combining Western boxing, American style kickboxing and Muy Thai kickboxing developing proper head movement, foot work and a wide variety of strikes and combinations.

No Gi Grappling
No GI Grappling is a combination of Jiu Jitsu and Catch Wrestling. A very popular style that is used in modern day (MMA) Mixed Martial Arts without the striking. A great option for those that are interested in training the ground game without the traditional use of a GI.

Jiu Jitsu is often overlooked by many as a good option for regular fun exercise. People at times assume its to aggressive, or may think it’s not something that would have much benefit. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY FIRST CLASS?
I'M A WOMAN: IS JIU JITSU RIGHT FOR ME?
Yes 100% Jiu Jitsu is right for you. It has so many benefits that help our ladies grow in confidence and skill set that can help them in a tough situation. What you will learn doesn’t just work on the mat but is also very much life applicable. We encourage all women to come try it out.
WOULD JIU JITSU BENEFIT MY CHILD?
Jiu Jitsu will help your child in so many ways. They will grow in skill set, fitness, team work, respect, consistency, humility and the list goes on! We encourage all children to try Jiu Jitsu.
WHAT DO I WEAR MY FIRST JIU JITSU CLASS?
Men can wear gym attire like a T-Shirt and gym shorts. Ladies can wear sports tops with a T-Shirt over it unless it’s a full sports top and gym pants. Pretty much anything you don’t mind sweating in with nothing metallic on it.
DO I HAVE TO BE IN SHAPE TO START JIU JITSU?
No you do not! Regardless what shape you’re in we have room for all levels and all we ask for is effort. Take it a class at a time and you will start seeing and feeling the difference in yourself from the consistent training.

We want all students to find a home that is the right fit for you even if it means not a Checkmat BJJ gym. IS JIU JITSU GOOD EXERCISE?
Yes Jiu Jitsu is a great option for positive physical activity. It’s a positive stress that challenges all in many levels and planes while increasing heart rate, mobility and functionality.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT TO TRAINING AT CHECKMAT BJJ MT. JULIET?
No there is not! We take students from ages 3.5 to seniors.
BASIC ETIQUETTE IN THE GYM?
Respect your fellow teammates. Bow facing the mat before you get on or off it. When your instructor is demonstrating technique watch and no talking. Be mindful of yourself and others on the mat so to not harm your teammates or risk injury.
IS KICKBOXING SOMETHING I'D ENJOY?
Absolutely you’d enjoy kickboxing. It’s fun yet very challenging. You’ll learn proper striking, kicks, knees, footwork, head movement and combinations. Our goal it to train you as if you were to get into the ring and compete. Train right, train hard!
